Education opportunities

Together with its affiliate “Institute for Applied Plastics Research” (iRap) at the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR), PICC offers Bachelor students and Master students the opportunity to collaborate with its industrial partners and clients “on the job” in technology development projects in a stimulating working environment:

  • They can efficiently progress their studies and develop their engineering skills by working alongside professionals from PICC institute as well as from the industrial partners and other PICC customers;
  • They will benefit from the insight into an increasingly important systems engineering field develop their engineering skills for their future professional career;
  • They can pursue postgraduate degrees within the cooperation framework of the PICC with partners academic institution;

Master of Science HES-SO in Engineering (MSE)

Among Master's degree programmes in Switzerland, the MSE programme stands out for its adequacy with the needs of businesses industry, most most particularly small and medium enterprises.
The master of science aims to train project leaders able to develop industrial products and services in SMEs. It offers several orientations like Industrial Technologies (TIN) that offers 5 ares of specialisation. Students can build individualised study curricula to suit their wishes.

Students coming within the frame of a swiss -European mobility programme are allowed to follow courses in the MSE if we have a bilateral agreement with the foreign university.

Swiss Cluster courses

Swiss Plastics Cluster is an association. His aim is to establish collaborative applied research projects that bring together companies with academic partners. The Swiss Plastics Cluster organizes continuous training courses.

Semester projects / Bachelor thesis / Master thesis

Students can do :

  • Their Semester project :

For Swiss students: 16 weeks (100 hours of work) or 12 weeks (130 hours of work)

For foreign students: in accordance with your curriculum

    • Bachelor thesis:

For Swiss students:7-8 week at 100% (360 hours of work)

The semester project and bachelor thesis can be the continuation of the same project.

For foreign students: in accordance with your curriculum

PA Timing (Master degree):

14 weeks (180 hours)

  • Master thesis:

For Swiss students:16 weeks at 100% (900 hours)

Master thesis is a continuation of the PA

PhD training

The research topics for Ph.D. cover fundamental research in many aspects of polymer and surface characterization, theory of polymers, polymer modification, and polymer engineering.

The topics are often very interdisciplinary with the big advantage that experts in the different fields work together under one roof. The PICC offers state-of-the-art equipment and facilities and modern laboratory that guarantee research possibilities of very high quality. The PICC has established a large number of co-operations with local, national and international research institutes, universities and companies with the profit of worldwide contacts.
